I imagine a game like a cake.

Originally, you pay $50 and you get your cake.

Lately, it feels like you pay $50 and the baker gives you half the cake. You ask what's going on and the baker says you can buy each additional piece for $10.

So because the baker decides to make a more expensive cake, you get less for the same cost and now have to pay more to get it all. The cake you do get might taste a little better than the old cake, but you're still not getting as much for your money.

I don't mind being able to buy more cake at an additional price but when I plop down $50, I expect to get one full cake. The baker can sell me additional cakes or cupcakes afterward but I want a whole cake up front.

So... who's hungry?

I disagree, you used to get a whole chocolate cake for $50, but nowadays only half the cake is chocolate. The other half is magic stawberry, but this magic strawberry cake slice never ends - it just stays there no matter how much you eat. However, the baker has to keep putting money into making sure the magic strawberry keeps it's MP, he never used to have to pay for this but it's now the standard for the cake industry.

Thankfully to cope with the rising costs of the cake industry in general, as well the as constant cost of giving the magic strawberry cake ethers, he can charge you for extra chocolate sprinkes, more icing and other ways to enhance your cake that weren't ready when the cake was first baked. Not only does it make your cake taste sweeter but it keeps the baker in business, before he has to risk baking an entirely new cake.
