The internet was in full swing by the time the ps2's reliability issues became widespread and the ps1 was recent enough for people to remember it was the second twice in a row Sony pulled the same stunt. But again, no one raised shit about it.

It has to do because it irks me that no one gave a shit about it but now all of a sudden it's this oh-so-big issue.

The guy is going for a Wii because Nintendo is the only manufacturer with a proper track record of reliability. There's no RROD, no YLOD, no disc drive going toast, etc.

I understand how frusturating it must be for a company allow to go unnoticed/unpunished for something it did, but you can't excuse Microsoft's failures because of another's past failures.

Dude, you are seriously misreading my posts. And considering you are a ps3 only owner, I wonder why are you bothering with all this.

I don't know if you lurk much around here, but on this forum we've been roasting MS alive for every misdeed it's done, afterall most here are informed consumers - we couldn't give a shit about the corporation as long as the consumer (us) is well served. There's barely any "corporation cult" (save for a few, well known users) going on here and we don't need you to talk people down about it.

My problem is not that Sony got away shipping such crappy hardware as the ps1 and the ps2 without consumer backlash but it's because all of a sudden people care about reliability when it's always been a non-issue as long as the games were good. It wasn't until it became ammo for the fanboy warz that all of a sudden people bothered about it.

We (360 users) have been raising shit about these issues already as well as others (reliability, HDD pricing, XBL stuff like advertising, etc) - so look the other way if you wanna find corporate cultists.

And I will keep roasting the hypocrits that happily bought a ps2 after a ps2 after a ps2 when they talk crap about the 360's reliability. If you don't like it, tough luck. Maybe you'd be happier on the Sony forum, talking about how this time for real 2010 will be the year of the ps3... because as high and mighty as your horse is, I've never seen you talk crap about the corporation cultists ignoring every single issue and misshap made by the Sony execs this generation.

As far as the OP, I don't care what he does, I'm just advising him that if he wants reliability he should be buying Nintendo. They are the only guys out there with an insane track record concerning reliability.
