You realize that that is a silly, silly criteria to put down, right? Two thirds of both generations launched a year or more after the first entrant, so we're only counting four years - four years - for two of the consoles in two different generations. This does not work.
More, the last generation kept havin great titles released up until a few months ago, so trying to set down an arbitrary timeframe in which to judge them seems, at best, an exercise in the pointless.
But to answer the question? No. No, this would not be a lesser generation. As an owner of all three consoles last gen, I can honestly say that I've had more fun with my Wii, my 360, and my DS than I had with th entire last generation put together. This gen has kicked last gen's ass.
