I'm about to write up something soon about this whole hardcore/casual business.
It's frankly a bunch of tripe as far as I'm concerned. Different audiences and different tastes but these two words "hardcore" & "casual" are horrible defining terms that orient people's thinking in the wrong way. They mean about as much as liberal and conservative does. What do they REALLY mean? Are these just catch-all phrases to herd off certain frames of thought missing the complexity in all the groups caught?
