hey guys, I just spent 4 days in Japan. Here are some photos of the suburbs I spent all my time in. This is a house, this is a convenience store. Oh look it's a field! Besides, I left out some of the crazy photos of Japanese fashion in Harujuku and all the Hosts. hosts are male hookers. Our hotel was in the Shinjuku entertainment district. Full of all kinds of sex clubs. Including tons of "Host bars" full of guys that looked like pirates getting paid to have drinks with rich women.
There they are. Except in real life their hair is bigger and more piraty. |
It's really hard to get genuinely angry on the net... kinda like how you'll type "lol" but you'll be putting on a straight face. And I understand that it's your vacation, but I just don't like it when people will post their experience as if they were going to learn more about the country as a whole, rather than a sub culture and it's shady spots.
It's annoying to hear people believe that the selling of panties is a common place and is everywhere. And yes, I know about the women taking hormones for the hostess club. But if you think about it, an entire nation has watched a video of 2 girls defecating into a cup, and then eating it, and watching reaction videos that rank up to the millions... (hint: my country of birth).
It's just that blogs/entries, etc like these are only contributing to the misconception about the whole of Japan, and it only makes more people go to Japan, only go to sex shops, take photos, share them, and continue the plague. It's perfectly cool with me if people said, "check out this awesome sub culture of Japan!". But it annoys me when I hear conservatives, even well learned pundits/commentators, comedians go "Oh, you know the wacky/perverted Japanese".
It's like my parents and their home country is some kind of Jester or something, that has absolutely no pride anymore, and is just a plaything for everyone to use...
... so yes, you're right, I do need to chill XD
