The device will use a USB interface almost assuredly, this means that the same box can be sold for use on PCs and 360s. This will allow them to use one set of numbers for sales and it will be much more impressive for tempted developers.
Then again it could use the same 2.4Ghz protocol that the 360 controller uses. In this case, it could still be used with PCs, you would just have to purchase the adapter.
This is the best idea for them to spurn adoption and development support.
