Wait for the 18th of August to see if the Slim will be released and if it will with PS2 BC. If yes, hold out for it, if not and you care about the BC, have it repaired.
As for getting a Xbox 360 and/or Wii, you'll have to decide if the games those consoles have and will be having ignite your curiosity enough to forfeit the future titles coming to PS3 and the inability to replay those you already have.
