Last year (2008), the PS3 ($399) sold 4,674,000 units between August 3rd and December the 28th. The console had a bad holiday season.

Now, this year if a $299 Slim releases in a few weeks, it should do over 6.5M units in this period, meaning the PS3 would be near 30M by the years end, not 26M.

Even if the Slim releases in October time, it should still do better than the previous year, meaning the VERY LEAST the PS3 can be at by the years end is 27.5M.
