How about..Sony was stupid and lost another form of profit. That is not a sign of superiority in a brand. The only superior mind is your own who can screw Sony over by buying another brands external HDD. HDD's could've been another form of profit for Sony.

it was awesome engineerin move, the cost saves are given to the comsumers, and thats a selling point.

sony also use a standard  pc power cable, if you broke you dont have to pay Dell or HP 70$ for a damn cable.
