Its not a question of what you do when you have an empty PS3 and you're whipping out the HDD, its more about the complexity involved in doing so for a PS3 whos HDD is full.

Well I can't imagine how much harder it could possibly be to swap a 360 hdd vs that of a ps3. Most people  if not everyone who plays games has a PC so things like backing up shouldn't be too complicated. Also, gamers who would choose to buy ps3 this gen would tend to have even more tech knowledge than your average casual gamer. I simply find it hard to believe that you who can post all those tech jargon that I find hard to understand, were unable to do something as simple as unscrewing a hdd when even I could do it with the info provided. It's hard to believe.

I think you were just unwilling or just innately wanted it to feel really hard and so it came to pass...

 

 

 

I was talking about the wider public. My own abilities to build, tweak and overclock computers is not for example a skill which many people here possess or that many people in the general public possess. Therefore I assume that people don't have the time/willingness to do so. Its like the question of how many people used lens cleaner or dialed their PS2s laser in 4-5 times over the course of a generation vs the number of people who bought a 2nd or 3rd console?

I can definitely understand the "wider public" not understanding but it still doesn't explain how come you couldn't do it with the instruction packaged in the box because you're definitely waaay beyond the wider public. It should also be noted that the wider public are mostly absent on ps3 and the few who have one probably won't fill their HDDs.

The TC's problem here is probably not that he doesn't know how to do it (especially when there are even videos on youtube if sony's instructions are really that bad), it's that he doesn't want to do it and chooses to toss the blame elsewhere.
