If you go to a store in Europe, the price tags include VAT already. When people say "this costs X" here, they always mean including tax.

This is true for online stores too. It's just the way prices work here.

I can see the merits of both and was wanting clarification.

It should be noted that there is no national sales tax in the US though... and it varies by state.  I pay like an 8% sales tax myself.

Where i'm moving the sales tax is 0%.
