The Ps3 is not a failure it is on the brink of 24million consoles sold, soon to be ranked No. 10 in "The Bestselling Video Game Consoles Of All Time".
For it's price thats very impressive it took the orignal Xbox around 5yrs to sale 24million consoles, the Ps3 has done it in 3yrs not to mention the Ps3 was around $450 dearer (on launch) than the original Xbox.
