I knew I'd hit some common sense eventually as I wound my way through this thread...
Factual news item - check.
Source - check.
Relevent to videogames - check.
Sounds like news to me.
OT a bit more - I'm sure MS will redeem cards, etc. although it was silly to not shut off their sales first before turning off the ability to redeem them.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
