I posted this in the other thread that got locked.
Microsoft really dominates online advertising. I work in online advertising and Google only has search...MS is now second in search and first in everything else. Below are the channels you can advertise online...
Display ads - MSN homepage and sections (#1 in daily number of visitors. Remember first thing people see when they open IE is usually MSN.com) Search - Bing + yahoo (#2 behind google) Gaming ads - Xbox live (#1...since PSN doesnt do ads yet) Instant Messenger ads - IM (MSN messenger #1 most used) Ad content networks for large volume of ads - DrivePM, hotmail (#1) Video "preroll" ads - MSN Video (MS is #1 - remember youtube doesnt advertise videos)
People make it out like they are taking on this giant empire of Google...but google is holding the last frontier of online advertising and Microsofts total domination.

Disp;ay ads...yes....but Google get the bulk of ad revenue, since display ads aren't dominate.

Partially true. however advertisers like to advertise over all available mediums.
Search is easy money as all you do is program the keywords and your'e done... And Search market is slightly bigger than display market 60/40% maybe...
But MS has all other online mediums locked up. They are going after search as the last frontier... their work is cut out for them.
