Actually, I'm talking about Persona 4 specifically.  Persona 2 I've heard was different though so I'll check that out sometime but after the disappointment of Persona 4, I'm rather weary about it.

And yeah, while the gameplay is not the best part in Persona games, I really enjoyed the stories and I felt attached to the characters quite easily. I can easily play through an RPG even if I don't really like the gameplay (best example I have is Lost Odyssey) because I think this is what it should be all about anyways. By the way, P2 doesn't have that Social Link stuff, it's more traditional.

Oh I thought the story was great.  Persona 4 easily has some of the best charactization and development of any RPG this generation.  It's the other stuff I didn't like.
