Most PAL TVs support 60hz, and I mean like 99%. Since Gears 1 doesn't run at 50hz and there hasn't been a massive 30 page thread blowing the issue out of proportion it can't be a significant issue. Since the issue got past the scrutiny of those who would love to bring it to everyones attention it must be a really insy lil issue. |
By that logic, one can say that it is the same thing with 50hz issue in Europe for those using SD, which is to say that it's a non issue since there hasn't been a massive 30 page thread in the past.
The only reason it's an issue now, is because someone put it out there for people to know, the same article could have been written putting the 360 in the spot light, and how certain SDtv which gamers own won't be able to play 60hz games on their 50hz TV, regardless of the size of the issue at hand.
In anycase the article goes on and on how developers should consider the SD users who own a HD console when making games, and how they should spend time making the SD just as good as the HD.....Eurogamer this isn't the wii, these are HD consoles, they were designed with a progressive type mentality, to push technology forward, increase adoption rate of HDtv by providing the content that people may want on them, now I'm not saying to simply ditch the SD crowd, but at the end of the day these are HD consoles and people have to realise this, so anyone who has a HD console now must have had a thought of eventually upgrading to a HDtv when money allows, even more so if said person has bought any HD media.
Your type of mentality Eurogamer is to stagnate technology, which in a short term is ok, but it hurts sales and the industry as a whole as well as hurting you in the long run ....it's the light bulb situation, we have the tech to making extremely long lasting light bulbs to the point of outlasting us, but what happens once everyone has one?....you and your business are fucked...you can't have a business if it ain't doing any business now can you, the same goes with the tech industry.
As with anything there is a transition period with some people being early adopters, some sitting on the fence, and the others opposed to the idea of change.....the same thing happened in the past with transitions with tape to CD, VHS to DVD, even in politics this occurs, it's the way things are, it's the way we as humans are, we are in most part progressive creatures, it's because of this type of mentality that we are were we are today, otherwise we could still have been living like primitive animals...so grateful that I was born when I was, cuz I get to enjoy some awesome tech and advances in technology.
my 2 cents ^_^
