Yea this is so annoying! I never buy from Gamestop at all. I did buy a game online with a sticker on it, but it came perfectly off with EASE, it must have some special adhesive or something. You can usually get most stickers off but you gotta be patient and take it off carefully.
If there are still major smudges I just use Rubbing alcohol and a q-tip. It does wonders on cleaning about any game (cartridge, disk, etc.) it gets off about anything.
