I guees they couldn't afford a better monitor after paying for live then? Anyway, Gears has nothing to do with the PS3. Screw the framerates off people with an sdtv anyway, hd gaming on lowtech don't mix babe. Like getting a F1 frame and putting a Volkswagen beetle engine in it.
