Is there an RPG with a story exploiting 'this' idea?

Basically, what happens is that Auron is an unsent, a person who died but wasn't sent to the FFX equivelant of heaven and Tidus is a creation of the spirits of the people who lived in Zanarkand when it was destroyed and will disappear when Sin is destroyed permenantly.  It's still sounds confusing to me.

Block it out please. Biggest spoiler of the game. And there's at least one member on here who's currently playing through it for the first time.
