I figure here is a good chance to do your ZP impression, or Angry Videogame Nerd, or whatever else out there, about genres, systems, design teams, companies, and so on, that are off the cuff whining. It is a place to vent and so on, the more absurd the better. Ok, let me start with a few (PLEASE resist getting TOO much off and venom. This is meant to be absurd, not hateful). To kick off (bear with me repeating what I have posted before):
* What is the freakin' point of driving games? Going around a loop over and over again? Come on, get real here. And then I am expected to tune the car to get a fraction of the second time saved?
* What is with the bashing of fans of Ninjabread Man and the request of designers for new stuff? Can people who like this bit of forgettable shovelware stuff be left alone?
* Why must people demand I do bowling with a joypad controller instead of the waggle of the Wii? Same goes for golf. There is a place for motion control. Stop demanding it go away.
* Gamestop sucks and EA sucks. Why must I have to pick a side when it comes to them battling it out?
* Stop bashing casual gamers. Really folks. Some people DO have other things to do with their time besides play videogames ALL THE TIME, or one videogame all the time.
* Stop hating the facepalm. Sometimes there is a reason to use it, like in here: http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=80941&page=1 (One more someone thinks it to be hip to be contrarian for its own sake).
* What is the freakin' point of JRPGs? Why is something involving a menu system supposed to be the pinacle of storytelling in a videogame, along with grinding? Yes, grinding is addictive, as is playing Peggle.
* Speak of Peggle. Why hate on it? Yes it is evil, but that is its point.
* We do need to revamp the morality system in videogames. How about we have consequences instead of morals, and have it so you play the game as you choose, rather than play it twice as "Good" or "Evil"? I actually only played through inFAMOUS once as good. Sorry, I don't get off being a psychopath.
* Speaking of psychopaths. Sorry folks, but I just can't get into Prototype. I don't get the appeal of being a destructive psychopath who is very angry, and wants to devour people to steal their abilities. I don't get into GTA4 for the same reason (Well that, and I don't have a car, and have to go around running errands).
* However, I do like Red Faction Guerrilla. I need rationalization for mayhem. I am annoyed at ZP fragging it.
* Please don't get me started on Michael Pachter.
* Killer apps catch everyone off-guard. I am tired of people announcing a title will be a "game changer" (with or without those words) and be the difference in sales. And stop expecting a game to do it. If you are so smart, go on record NOW annoucing which one will. I can't see any that will... which is the point. Speaking on this, have you checked how many copies of Dr. Lawton have sold? Did you think it would do that when it was first announced. Shoot, did you even know the game existed?
* Don't demand I try to get the same experience from videogames as you do. I like my challenge light, and set all my games on easy when I play through them. Why? I have a monster pile of games I haven't played yet, and I play to see how the game will end. I don't need "challenge". I need "entertainment".
* Stop hating on Downloadable Content. Ok, you can hate it for yourself, but if I see a petition that there be a ban of ALL Downloadable content, you may be looking at BAD THINGS MAN:
* Project Natal. Please let me know how much it will cost, and how well it would work, before I get excited about it.
* Halo may not be the "best game ever" but people like it, and that is fine with me.
Ok, just some off-the-cuff stuff.
