I think Nintendo would still turn out mario games even if they didn't have a console in the race. I think it's fair to say that most games would still come out regardless of the vying consoles. Sorry, just being anal here. I know it's not your idea. EDIT: Also, about the thing about Sony having outside studios with deve from within... A lot of Sony's third party supports are actually second party and are oftentimes co-developed with Sony techs and devs for the purposes of influencing the gameplay and optimizing code for the platform. THe gameplay guidance is meant to help adjust to the demographic. So, in a small part they are a big part of IP development, and the games possibly wouldn't be the same without the help, but then again, they very well could be better in some cases. |
I think the point the guy I was responding to was making was if these comapanies didn't exist in the first place then the games would (in MS case) or wouldn't (in Sony and Ninty's case) have ever been created.
I don't think most of Ninty's franchises would as *oh god I'm going to spell a Japanese name, please don't take offence anyone* Myimoto would never have got into the gaming industry or the teams assembled would never have been assembled.
As for the people that make Sony or MS games these are software houses that probably would have regardless of who's making consoles.
This is all heresay and what ifs and there are a million different variables I realise but I'm working within the boundries set by someone else and trying to keep them simple.
