According to NPD data, September 2007 was a strong month for the PlayStation brand, which showed a 13% increase in total retail dollars generated year-over-year in the US with total sales of $337 million for the month. PS3 continues to maintain an overall increase in sales, with 119K units sold at retail for the month. PS2 sales remained very strong for the month of September, selling 215K units, making it one of the best-selling consoles on the market.

 

I'll assume this is real, and will analyse:

"increase in total retail dollars generated year-over-year in the US"

 - when all else fails, quote revenue. Was September a 5 week period last year?

"PS3 continues to maintain an overall increase in sales, with 119K units sold at retail for the month."

 - false. A 5 week month, indicates that sales dropped (per week), and it got slammed by the 360 by 5:1.

"The PSP had a great month, selling 285K units for the month. Success at retail is due to the release of the new slimmer and lighter PSP"

 - luckily sales continue to increase, because this was a poor performance if it represents a new hardware launch. Sales are closer to 80k-100k / month now. DS also outsold it by almost 2:1 - after a new PSP model + price cut.

 - making it the 2nd worst selling console on the market (ignoring the XBOX / GC) - only beating the PS3

 - well... Warhawk, LAIR, HS, Folklore are all out - and have had minimal impact on the charts. R&C & Uncharted represent the last hopes(?) for Sony this Xmas on the PS3. No Prologue?
