There have been many good points already discussed, so I won't rehash my own opinions on the matter.

However, I have to say that I disagree with the topic at hand. All 3 companies are going to come out with a next gen console, no "ifs", "ands", or "buts". Equally.

Simple answer. Money. Theres money to be made in video games.

Only way that is going to change is if one of the companies goes bankrupt. Some one can correct me on this one if I'm mistaken, but the video game market is capitalized at I believe (US)$32 billion and continues to grow, with each company taking a slice out of that pie.

Only known fact, Nintendo has always made money (profit), Microsoft has lots of money, and Sony is a huge electronics giant. It's all about the money.

So this assumption that Nintendo would be the one to leave most likely, is just as far off as Sony not making another console. Or Microsoft (didn't want to leave MS out of the party)

I game.  You game.  We game.

I'm a videogamer, not a fanboy, but have a special place for Nintendo.
