You do know that Itchy and Scratchy is a satirical representation of just how violent cartoons really are, right? The reason why Itchy and Scratchy is funny is because it's doing what is done in cartoons (specifically Tom & Jerry) and showing the "real" consequences.

I wouldn't give it that much credit. The violence, although gory, is still to unrealistic to be actually showing the consequences of the violence. Plus since Scratchy almost never attacks Itchy first, the cartoons can't be called a true parody.
