I'm a little confused about the health care reform bill.

So if I'm understaning this right, insurance will become mandatory for everybody, and it's the person's choice whether they will choose to pay for private insurance, or get government insurnace and pay a fee for it, correct?

 

Why don't they just take the government health care that already exists (Medicaid) and expand it?

 

I've been looking for a place to gather pure facts, and so far I have only found partisan yapping from both sides. :P
