I really don't understand the hate this game is getting from some people. Well I do somewhat since some Sony fans act weird towards multi-platform games and especially since they were hoping Infamous would outsell this game instead of Prototype outselling it on just one of the consoles alone. |
Maybe some people just don't like the game. The OP doesn't even own inFamous, if you haven't kept up with the thread and instead decided to assume that he was a PS3/inFamous fanboy based solely on his original post.
Personally, I don't think Prototype is my type of game either. Autoaim? No thanks. The world doesn't seem particularly interesting. The game seems a tad too over the top and tries too hard to be badass and cool. Elbow dropping tanks is a bit ridiculous to me. If Hulk: Ultimate Destruction is your thing, great, I'm sure you will enjoy the game. It's just not my thing, and it has nothing to do with owning a PS3.
I'm almost positive that the game will get boring for me after an hour or two. Just like Crackdown, GTA4, and Assassin's Creed. The only sandbox game I've liked this gen is Saint's Row 2, but I haven't played Prototype or inFamous yet (plan on picking up inFamous tomorrow though).

You haven't even played Prototype yet you're making comments like that about it and lecturing others about assuming? Seriously it's you that doesn't appear to be keeping up in this thread since it's obviously about people's opinions of the game that have actually played it. As for the fanboy comment I may be assuming but I'm willing to bet you're one of the people I'm referring to.

I've seen lots of videos and have read some reviews. I think I have a pretty good idea of what the game is like. Does the game not have auto-aim? Tell me that the game is not over the top, bordering on ridiculous. Alex elbow drops tanks. Is that not enough to tell me that the game is over the top? Everyone talks about how awesome the game is, like Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. Which is no surprise because it's the same developer. So is it wrong to assume that if I didn't like Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, that I won't really like Prototype?
I'm looking forward to inFamous. I played the demo, and enjoyed it. The combat appeals to me because all his powers are basically guns (basic attack = rifle, shockwave = shotgun, lightning grenades = ...grenades). And I'm a big fan of shooters. Easily my favorite genre. Whereas with Prototype, it seems to focus on powers that are decidedly not like guns. Lots of running around slicing people up or picking up tanks and throwing them like toys. As for picking up guns in Prototype, let me know if the game doesn't use auto-aim. And even though I'm looking forward to inFamous, I doubt that it will supplant Saint's Row 2 as my favorite sandbox game.
As for being a fanboy, nope. While I do enjoy my PS3, I can find plenty of flaws with it. Off the top of my head is the fact that I can't even organize my PSN games alphabetically. What the hell? And half of my top 10 games this generation would probably be XBox360 exclusives, including Gears of War and Dead Rising. And I'm sure Mass Effect would be on it too, if only I could play it.
