The Walmart/Magnavox deal is a new product. It is a permanent $98 BD player. Not a sale. Scratch that. I guess I misunderstood the announcement I saw yesterday 
And can I see your source that says ONLY Sony owns the IP and gets all the royalties? I've never looked into it but thought the entire Blu-Ray Disc Association got the royalties since they jointly developed the format, not Sony alone. I could be mistaken because I never looked into it, this is just what I've heard around these parts in the past.
