| mibuokami said: @Seraphic, like selnor said, Masterchief and Halo 1-3 is a very small section of the entire halo universe which has an expansive history every bit as interesting as any cult sci-fi series. The Fall of Reach really is an enjoyable book, try to surf around for it (by Eric Nylund), although personally I REALLY want them to create a spinoff (in any media) about the forerunner vs flood battles, which would be epic on the scale of Hulk vs Superman. |
And to add to this - The Fall of Reach (which immediately preceeds Halo:CE) is already something like 2 decades into the covenant war. The Spartans, all Spartans, are basically already legendary warriors. Master Chief wasn't even considered the best of them. The rest had the misfortune of being on the ground defending Reach when the entire planet was glassed(orbital bombardment that melts the surface into a glassy texture). But the Spartans in their heyday were truely a force to be reconned with. Very few Spartans were ever created, but they survived and took part in so many battles over such a long period of time that the books note that the Sangheli don't even realize that Spartans are human, since they are never seen out of their armor. They assume Startans are a far deadlier race lending assistance.
