The HD4850 is 20-25% faster than the 9800GT and is available for $80 also with a free game. Why would you buy a 9800GT?

You say it's OC'd, but a 4% OC on the core clock, a 0.4% OC on the shader clock and no OC on the memory is going to give you about a 1-2% boost overall i.e. no effect.
