You know why the last two consoles sold well? Because not only did they offer more quality exclusives they were not as expensive at the time. And as the article stated, the xbox 360 had a one year advantage. So why would anyone be suprised that the xbox 360 sold more units than the playstation 3 if it had a year headstart? It was released early because microsoft wanted more sales. Not because it was ready (otherwise the hardware failure wouldn't happen)

Sure sales are important in a sense. But it doesn't always mean that a product is better.

The playstation 3 is not selling as well because it's too expensive. Why else are consumers and developers demanding a price cut anyway?
