I don't think you understood my post. I said all variables being consistent between both machines. That means stripping the Windows machine of bloatware and other unwarranted resource hogging services and apps and other tweaks to bring the variables between the 2 as close to equal as can be done under the circumstances.
When you do this the speed advantage of the mac becomes negligible.
I run both Tiny Vista and Ubuntu both of which show a sizable performance increase over a bloat filled retail Vista PC.
