Boy do I feel like a sucker

I used to do this, 20 something years ago. The guy is pushing it, because he once was a salesman himself, and he was so good at it, he got a region, and now he needs to recruit people.

Here is the deal. Someone books the showings for you, and all you have to do is go. If you show x number of these things in a week, he will give you $425 (or the difference if your commissions don't reach $425). The reason he will offer this, is he knows if you do that many showings, you will make at least 425 bucks.

Here is the reason why, and why I only lasted a few weeks at it. About 1 in 6 people you show a product to will buy it. The problem is, those 1 in 6 have no business buying a 1,200 vacuum cleaner. I felt like the biggest low life in the world, and couldn't do it anymore.

And, the reason this guy is good enough to be trying to sell you a job, is he was OK with it, and knows 1 in 6 people will buy anything (including a job).
