The current single-cpu mac pro is a rip-off. Do not buy it. It even has a single-cpu socket mobo, previous single-cpu mac pros had the way more expensive dual-cpu mobo so you could upgrade down the line.
The dual-cpu is a bit better.
@Xoj: Sony Vegas? Ugh. I had to cut a commercial once on a 17" screen using Vegas, still have nightmares about it.
@Viper: shrug, from my experience Macs are usually snappier than equally geared Windows machines. It's nothing special about Macs tho, it's just that UNIX compliant OS's are much better than Windows. You could try out a good Linux distro, FreeBSD or something like that and you'd feel it too.
