If GT5 do make it out in 09, what killer apps does PS3 have left in Fall10?

It won't, but considering there has not been a next gen iteration yet, it has about as much chance of moving console as Gear 3. I think there was a 10k-20k bump for when Gears 2 came out but that was during the holidays...
