it's all about focus, execution, and luck. You also have to know when to rest when your eyes get tired or when you get frustrated.
The Zone zues trophy wasn't nearly as frustrating as the arcade trophies that required you to beat the computer on the highest difficultly and speed as well as the reverse tracks. Even if you drove perfect, you'd still need the CPU to get shitty items (or use them against each other) while you got useful ones... which is very rare.
And yes, that zone record has got to be a glitch unless proven otherwise.
