Xbox 360 Hard Drive question related to Arcade machine

And then use that money (+ more)to buy a new system. It sucks but thats your best option. You keep the controller and hard drive etc...

Cool, thanks.   :)  I have saved up enough to get an arcade model.  I was thinking about keeping the other one in case I ever need parts.  But I could sell it on craigslist instead (gotta think about that).

You can keep the parts like cables, controller...even the power supply if you want but the console will be useless to you. Most likely the motherboard model you had is completely different from the one you will buy now. Also, DVD drives are not exchangable unless you flash your drive with the proper system key etc... So there really are no parts you could use in your old xbox.
