That is of course assuming that the only evolutionary value of being alive is for one to pass their genes forward. Which is just an assumption. Ever wonder why people don't die when they become incapable of reproduction? They're still serving a purpose to the species, for example taking care of the younger members.

Maybe gay people are nature's way of slightly controlling overpopulation. In this perspective gay people are blocking resources others could use for reproduction.
