Eh, i've seen people push the limit of how offensive they can make their online experience even on DS/Wii. A dude on The Conduit named himself 8A5TARD, and i remember on Mario Kart DS (where you could make little custom logos for yourself), facing someone with an ejaculating penis for a logo.
People will exploit any creative freedom Nintendo gives them in that regard.
I actually kinda enjoy not being able to talk to randoms, though. I swear a lot, and have little outbursts over what i percieve to be "cheap shots," and i would make a lot of enemies unnecessarily if i were able to communicate with them.
