Gaming - Do you like MMORPG? - View Post

I'm not trying to convince anyone that MMOs are good or fun, but some of the things said in this thread are just patently false. For instance, in WOW, high end raiding doesn't involve any sort of massive time sink. 4 hours a night two times a week is not more time than an average video game player spends playing "normal" games, and is quite sufficient for a skilled group of players to progress rapidly through the 10 man raid content.

As for the idea that it takes "months" to get competitive gear on WOW, the only explanation for that is lack of player skill. It takes at most 2-3 weeks of solo PVP at a reasonable pace to put together a blue-quality PVP set which is more than serviceable. From that point on you can steadily improve your gear with as little as one hour of playtime PER WEEK, at least your PVP gear that is. WOW is not the most gear-dependent game anyway, player skill is far more important.

Like I said, I understand that MMOs aren't for everyone, and I see why. But on a day-to-day basis WOW does not require a huge amount of playtime, nor do many other MMOs.
