I have a feeling the game will be really intense hack and slash action, not as epic as God Of War for example, but still really slick. There will be some stealth involved too and those sequences will feel a lot like Tenchu. There won't be many cutscenes, I have a feeling that the "new generation" of Konami is looking to change the formula of the MGS series to appeal to the new MGS fans that are going to come on board; I doubt they have enough patience to sit through the long cutscenes, which fans of the series have come to know and love. For some reason though, I feel this game will be great, but will not live up to it's predecessor, MGS4, which set the bar way too high for not only MGS games, but videogames in general. Also, the absence of an amazing character like Snake will definitely fail to pull in a lot of people into the story.
In terms of sales, I expect this game to perform admirably on the PS3, but not so well on the 360. Every 360 owner I have talked to about this, and even on forums, say that they are not interested in MGSR, while PS3 fans can't wait for it. I'm expecting this game to hit 3.5 million copies for the PS3, and about 1.5 at the most for the 360 (even that's pushing it).
I just hope that the new blood in Konami doesn't fuck up this game and the series; I'm almost afraid to play this game because I don't want it to ruin my views on the series. Sigh, let's hope they make a decent follow up to MGS4 :(
