Actually I wouldn't, I would tell you to wait for FFXIV.
FFXI is, in my honest opinion, the greatest MMO out there but it is not beginner friendly. Someone who is starting new, knows what they're doing, and already has old higher level friends can start new and do well, but someone starting completely from scratch at this point in the games life will have an incredibly difficult time.
The game requires an insane amount of knowledge for each job, requires a huge time commitment for even low level parties, requires you to have top tier (or near top tier) equipment at each level, requires you to have a lot of money, and requires you do most everything in a group and that just isn't easy for someone starting completely new.
I believe they still offer a free 10 day trial but I'm just warning you it will be incredibly tough. You would really be better waiting for FFXIV.

Also, if you're new to MMO's, this is a pretty unforgiving game. You have to rely on other people, you have to be good at your job, and you will be punished for mistakes. FFXI isn't WoW where dying is no big deal and you can make it to level 75 in a month without trying or talking to another person, FFXI is actually pretty difficult for the most part.
