Sony - MGS 4 vs MGS:Rising - View Post

I honestly could see MGS:R on 3 HDDVD discs for 360.  Think about it, the graphics will take a ton of disc space.  So, unless all this time, they're unspecifically meant the PS3 version's graphics were going to surpass MGS4, while the 360 version wouldn't even do that, expect multiple discs for 360.

Remember, they had to remove some content from MGS4, because not even the blu-ray could store so much information at that time.  And, with MGS:R missing MGO, it has an extra 15-20 GB to work with, so, the space is there.

You obviously know nothing about what takes what ammount of disc space. Graphics (3D models etc) take up very little, textures can take up alot more but lets face it, no console game is using crazy high res textures (Crysis like) that take up huge ammounts of space.

Audio and Cinematic cutscenes are what take up the majority of the disc space. Metal Gear Solid 4 used uncompressed audio and hours of it! and a couple of high bit rate 1080p pre-rendered scenes at the end of Act 3 and the end of the game.

I'm willing to bet the audio from MGS4 took up around 70% of the disc space.

This is why on most JRPG's on the Xbox 360 only feature one language track. Japanese for Japan, English for the UK and America, to cut down needed space.

Final Fantasy XIII on the Xbox 360 will have no Japanese voice track and only English where as the Ps3 version will have both.
