It's absolutely true. The "non gamers" are captivated by the wii. Nintendo really caught a huge wave with that one.

But I have to disagree. The mom IS buying one for the house but more importantly, she is most likely buying one for either: her own use, or, her own peer pressure.

If this was a birthday present, then she's a horrible person, and if it's just for the house, then she's a good mother by not caving in to a crying child.

I'm also sure that the kid has played the games before and really likes them and what they have to offer. Plus, he probably has friends that he can trade games with. So that would be like having 10 games instead of one or two.
