Very good actually. It's far more removed from a Disney film though and will likely give you the impression of being a Don Bluth film, which was probably the point, since Disney at the time may have been trying to use the film to make their own The Secret of NIMH. The animation style seems more like much of Bluth's post-Disney work like All Dogs Go To Heaven, Dragon's Lair and An American Tail.
