This is really disturbing, that was before high school for me, and it kept emerging over and over again in chemistry and physics classes. Are people getting that much dumber?

tbh, much of that report is disturbing, such as this

"87 percent of scientists believed that humans and other living things evolved naturally, compared with 32 percent of the general public"

sounds to me like your nation needs to improve science lessons significantly.
