Ghost in the Shell is my favorite anime. I like it because it's not idiotic in the way other animes are - it isn't trying to be cute. There's no little boys or girls doing the save the world shit. No boys with spiky hair. None of that homo shit.

Ghost in the Shell is one of the worst anime I've ever seen because the characters are poor, the writers mistake complexity for depth, and the pacing of the show is downright lethargic.

But that's the beauty of anime.  There's something for everyone.  It's so diverse that as long as you embrace the medium, you will find something you enjoy.

Now do you mean Stand Alone Complex or the first movie? If the former - eh, I wasn't that impressed either, but if the latter I will be so disappointed.

I was talking about Stand Alone Complex in that post.

I disliked the movie for different reasons.  Essentially the movie didn't feel coherent.  It was very spastic in its transitions and didn't fully explain what was going on till towards the very end.  It's one of those shows where you would understand quite a bit more from rewatching it but it was just so bad that there's no motivation to rewatch it.

thats mamoru oshii's style, and the main reason the sky crawlers didn't get the oscar nomination, eventhough the movie is as beautiful as movies get, a main plot and various subplots are presented and not resolved until the very end(barely resolved that is) while the movie drags on with no specific goal in mind for the most part, a same case is seing in the jin-roh script made by oshii. anyways ghost in the shell ain't as good as some people say it is, maybe thats the reason why its only popular on the west, while in japan they actually had to completely that out the name "ghost in the shell"
