Quickdraw McGraw said: Wow, this somehow turned into "How much does MGS4 cost?!"
Hint: Doesn't matter. This game will be sold when the user base is 10m+, and is one of the most anticipated titles for 2008. Not to mention the conclusion to one of the most popular franchises in gaming.
Add that to the fact that there will probably be a "Special Edition", a long with some kind of bundle, and both Konami and Sony will make an easy profit of this title.

Thank you! You might have made the only reasonable post in this entire thread. This game'll easily make a handsome profit. I love how some of you think you're far smarter than the people running Konami who have been in the business for years. Get off your high horses. This debate on the cost of the game based on salaries is borderline childish and pure BS because you have no idea how those 200 people's jobs are being delegated. Relax, breathe, and just enjoy the freaking game when it comes out and stop pretending you're some kind of expert on development costs. Even when companies announce costs, you have to take it with a grain of salt because they could be throwing numbers out there just to hype up their game. I have a hard time believing Stranglehold actually cost $25 million unless that was announced at a shareholder meeting. That game was made by a completely unknown and unproven studio; developers like that aren't handed ridiculous budgets like that. If all games for the 360 and PS3 cost so much and were so unbelievably hard to make a profit on, why would so many companies be releasing so many games on these systems? How would they still be in business now? It doesn't make sense Oh, and all of you have forgotten one major reason why there are 200 people on this team for this "one" game. Because they're in fact making TWO games: Metal Gear Online. So now you can go and start pretending to be corporate accountants again and factor MGO sales into whether or not Konami makes any money. God, I love the internet, where anyone can be an expert. |
you really think John Wu and Chow fat dont cost $$$????? cost on the game studio side might not be $25mil, but I'm sure bet John Wu and Chow Fat going to charge them a few million each?????? |
Chow Yun Fat isn't gonna get paid more for this videogame than he does for his films. He was basically just a voice actor and he lent his likeness to the game. That's like two or three days of work. So no I don't think he was paid millions. John Woo on the other hand might've been paid a considerable amount because the game was using his intellectal property. However, why would this license for a relatively unknown IP cost any more than the one for the Matrix or James Bond? I'm not saying I'm right, but I am saying be skeptical and "don't believe the hype."
My Top 5:
Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger
My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3
and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.
