Immigration should be primarly for people that can give something to their new home, not the other way around. If people have desirable skills, education or prospects they should be let in without any problems.

It shouldnt lead to the situation in which a State has to take care of people that came here just because they cannot have a good life at home. I know is harsh but in current times immigration is less desirable.

Am half and half with you, I get it isn't the state job to babysit these people. But what happens if they don't have any skill in the first place but they still want to cotribute to society. Saying they need a certain level of skill or educational backing to get in  is wrong.

Or they want to acquire new skills .e.g. Construction worker or plumber, but their previous home didn't have any training for it.

You can still be a productive citizen, even without a certain level of skill.
