Steroid said: PSN is bigger then XBL now. No matter how many alt accounts you count. Because each of those accounts can do online gaming. Meanwhile let's pretend there are no alt accounts for XBL even though people make alt accounts for a free month of Gold all the time. You think people are making alt PSN accounts so they can get free PSN? |
Yes. For the same reason people make Alt accounts on XBL. To take advantage of games by giving you a new character but the skills of someone at a much higher level.
And I don't think you understand what I said. Microsoft has 20 million XBL "active" accounts within the last 30 days. People just using the 1 month free would obviously expire after 30 days and not be counted. If Microsoft released figures the same way Sony did, it would truly show how XBL always was and always will be far larger (counting both Gold and Silver).

Why count silver though they can't play games online (unless you wanna grasp at straws with a last gen MMO). EVERY PSN account can do online gaming for free. Basicly that means there are 3 times as many online gaming accounts on PSN as there are for XBL, period.
|
Wrong. Because not every PSN account actually plays online gaming. In fact a large portion of them don't, just as Silver accounts don't. And silver accounts can still download items from marketplace, and do everything except play online, which they can even do that for free on occasion. Luckily for MS they offer such great added features that many Silver accounts do make the upgrade and boy is it well worth the benefits over any "Free" networking service.

Everyone I know is switching from XBL to PSN not the other way around. You have no clue, I mean you have no idea whatsoever how many PSN accounts are inactive, but you do know with absolute certianty that those 20 million XBL silver members are not participating in online gaming. They simply cannot play until they fork over some cash. There's nothing to debate here.

That's odd. Everyone I know is switching to XBL because they are getting rid of PS3's in favor of the more dominant service and console which has the majority of their friends on it. You are right I have no idea how many of PSN accounts are inactive, but based on all the evidence I see each and every day I can make a very safe guess that on PSN the amount of active users playing online is about the same if not less than the amount of XBL gold members. You have no idea how many are active, so you can't say they are all playing either. There really is nothing to debate, I agree, it's just you don't seem to understand these very simple things.
Oh and it's not 20 million XBL Silver members. It's 20 million ACTIVE XBL Gold AND Silver members. Of that about 12-13 million are active Gold members (55-60%). Now if we included all the inactive Silver and Gold accounts, there is likely close to 20 million Gold Accounts alone on XBL.
