Why did Microsoft succeed where Sega failed?

To be honest it's money.

Sony killed Sega with money and nearly killed Nintendo. Sony bought franchise after franchise which gave them power in the industry.

Now Sony are getting there own medicine and are trying to match someone with much much more money and power. Sony are getting there own recipe.
